Winter in Provence

Time seems to have run away on me  - over a week since I've posted, sorry about that.

I won't bore you with what's been taking up my time. Let's just say it involved a holiday function, little snotty noses and a vomiting baby. Not to mention getting ready for Christmas.

But look what happened while I was away!

Aix11

There wasn't much of it, and it didn't stay around for long, but it really snowed!

Aix10

Unfortunately it has warmed right up again (around 13 degrees) so no snow in the foreseeable future.

The mister and I took a stroll through the Christmas markets on Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence on the way to his work's Christmas function.

Aix7

This year all the shops in the centre of town had made an effort with racy-red lights.

The Rotonde Fountain was gorgeous:

As were the decorations along the Cours Mirabeau:

The merry-go-round at the end of the Cours was all lit up.

As always, King René keeps an eye on everything, including the tree.

Next trip we'll bring the kids and take time to browse the stalls, eat some pretzels and drink mulled wine. And no doubt be talked into a merry-go-round ride.

Hope your Christmas/holiday preparations are all going well (preferably without vomiting babies).

What a gorgeous sight! There is something so magical about fairy lights...and fairy lights in Southern France, well, that's about as good as it gets! Lap up every moment, you lucky lucky gal ;-)

Oh pretty pretty! I Love Christmas lights at night. Your poor baby and poor you for all the washing that comes from having a sick baby!

I was just wondering last night if it snowed in the south! Keep me updated, very jealous, I really hate summer and always dream of a white Christmas! Those lights are just beautiful too.

Hope you're all feeling better now.

It looks just perfect. So far removed from an Aussie christmas.

Thanks for sharing photos of such a pretty village. Have you heard all about the rain we having in the south of the country? Quite a contrast to your weather I expect! Hope the little ones are on the mend! Suz

I'm sorry about all the snottyness and vomiting! I hope everyone's well now!

Lovely pictures, there's a real Christmas atmosphere in them! I miss Middle-European Christmas markets up here in the north ... The markets here are different, no merry-go-rounds, no food, no alcohol ... It's all very quiet and the smells are missing ...

Here it has snowed tons and more is promised ... I have to get myself outside to take some pics soon! I hope the snow'll last till Christmas!

I saw that Paris had a big snowstorm yesterday. Did this hit you too?

No, Christine, none of that for us. Still too warm here. :(

I used to live in Aix and I miss it so much! I've never seen it during Christmastime - beautiful!
