He was exactly where they said he was, in Place Richelme, Aix-en-Provence.
He was a little hard to photograph because the fish man's truck was right next to him.
Also in Place Richelme that morning was the food market (hence the fish man's truck).
I was (I thought) very restrained, only buying strawberries, cherry tomatoes and 8€ of cheese.
And maybe a little morning tea too.
Seen while heading back to the carpark:
A very happy American tourist with her sunflowers.
A ferocious store guard dog
Aix-en-Provence doing what she does best - being beautiful
Hope the week is treating you well! A bientôt.

I always feel a little stalker-ish when leaving comments so soon after they've been published, but if I don't comment know I may forget! LOVE these shots! We got to go with a guide to a local market in Tournon, and it was fabulous! The guides grandmother even came and took some of the old ladies off with her, she couldn't speak a word of English, but was the sweetest old lady!
I studied abroad in Aix and hold that city very close to my heart. Never again will I live somewhere that has such beautiful markets daily! i loved it :)
What a beautiful fresh market. Love those little cheeses. You really can't beat a market for buying your fruit and veg. I wish I could be bothered getting organised enough to shop at the market every Saturday. Mabye I will this weekend. I love your bright photos. That pig is kinda cute with the water coming out his mouth. Bit odd perhaps but it looked nice and clean at least.
Note to self - don't read Kirsty's post until after breakfast. Your photos are gorgeous and have made me so hungry.
I haven't been to our local farmers market in such a long time because to get the best produce you have to be there by 7am. It's on Sundays and I like to stay in bed and get up late Sundays.
Love your market shots! We used to shop at Versailles market every Sunday morning when we lived in France - such beautiful fresh produce, and much more fun that a trip to Coles.
Oh, is there anything better than a French market! I hope heaven is like that! And that boar is SO familiar! I wish I could remember where I've seen one!
Today's post has finally just reminded me why that boar statue is so familiar. We have one here in Australia. It's on Macquarie St in Sydney outside the Sydney Hospital and I have walked past it countless times and given his shiny nose a rub for good luck. He doesn't have the whole fountain effect but is magnificent just the same.
That ferocious guard dog works as hard as mine does.
Bonjour Kirsty,
I am a new reader of your wonderful blog and loved these pictures of gorgeous Aix-en-Provence. They made me feel very homesick but I have to thank you for posting them. I will be back in France soon for a few weeks and can't wait. Please come and visit my blog when you get a chance.

Bravo, Kirsty, how strange to see the 'porcellino' in Aix!
Mmmmmmhhhh! Cheese! The market looks amazing and you really conveyed a laid-back summer atmosphere in your pics ... I'm SO jealous! :-D
8€ of cheese is very moderate! I usually go totally over the top in these kinds of markets!
OK, it's 11 pm, I'm watching wife swap and blog hopping, I'm starving and trying not to eat and what do you do to me? wave all of that amazing food in my face. play nice kirsty. your corner of the world is so very gorgeous and you showcase it so well
That fountain is quite something! An impressive find.
